After a long, cold winter, spring brings a sense of joy and positivity for the warmer and more festive months ahead. This season is also the ideal time for an interior refresh.

Whether, you’re planning a large-scale renovation, a single room transformation, new tiles or lighting or just a seasonal update, Three Balls Red’s interior experts can guide you. The TBR lifestyle store also has a slew of inspiring new brands such as cushions and lamps from Aztec House, Weave rugs, handmade lighting from Her Hands and concrete basins in a range of pretty hues like lilac from Nood Co.

“Spring is for new beginnings, which for me means new projects! I like to use spring as an excuse to update my home ready for the sunshine and upcoming holidays. I start by packing away the heavy winter layers and refreshing my interiors with colours that motivate me.”

Tile away!

Fully-tiled pools are having a moment this season.

Not only do they look striking, Three Balls Red design consultant, Rebecca Stanley, says fully-tiled pools can be less maintenance than a pebblecrete pool as there is less chemical usage, and less cleaning – think removal of body oils, debris, dirt, and pollen - involved.

This means less time and money spent on maintenance and more time to enjoy your beautiful new pool landscape.

Terracotta-look Bejmat tiles are pool safe and add a point of interest and personality to a pool landscape.

Colour me happy

Make a statement with enticing, pretty hues this summer.

The brilliant jade-hued Sukabumi natural stone – which comes from Indonesia and is used in the world’s best hotels – is a luxurious choice for a high-end finish or opt for a deep green tile to give the same striking appeal.

“Deep greens and bright whites are the two most popular colours,” says Stanley. “Darker tiles absorb the heat, which warms your pool for winter, whilst clean white water lines exude the crisp, vacation-style vibes.”

“Spring is for new beginnings. When the warmer season starts to approach, I like to store away all my heavy linens and dark decor and refresh by incorporating colour - whether that’s with decor, cushions, vibrant art or bed linen.
My spaces need to be injected with life and colour always, but especially in the warmer months!”

Make a Splash

Bigger is better when it comes to waterline tiles.

“There’s a trend towards 50x50 or even 145x145 mosaics as a water line or for a full pool,” says Stanley. “Go bigger – rather than the 23x23 which we have always seen.”

A beautiful mosaic helps give the pool a really light blue and fresh feel, which is really appealing, especially on a beautiful summer’s day!”

Lush Landscaping

For that enviable, resort-style aesthetic, thoughtful landscaping is key.

This includes selections such as decking, paving, fencing, and choice of plants, which enhance the design on the pool and add to its functionality.

“You will be looking at you pool landscaping every day so the design needs to look great from inside the home as well as out,” says Stanley. “Landscaping and choosing your plants wisely is very important. “If there is full sun, choose cool decking materials and plants that thrive in a dry environment like cacti.

For a cooler space, go for lush plants that grow in the shade.”
