Spring has sprung and that means time to refresh and reinvent your space for the joyous and festive warmer seasons.

These are the hottest trends you need to know about for spring and summer 2024.

Quiet luxury

Rooted in simplicity, this muted style movement has translated from international runways to homes across the globe.
With an emphasis on quality, craftsmanship and timelessness, quiet luxury is a favoured style of celebrated American designers, Jake Arnold and Amber Lewis.“This is a forever tenet for our studio, but in the same way a “quiet luxury” wardrobe is assembled, within design, there will be a continued emphasis on classic, investment pieces that you can build a room around,” Arnold told Vogue.
“Pieces that are timeless, in classic shapes and silhouettes that can have many lives and evolve through reupholstery.
”This means flamboyant, Instagrammable spaces and impractical, trend-driven furniture have reached their used-by date and replaced with high-quality materials, luxurious textures and classic lines that are designed to last and enjoy for years to come.

Dramatic lighting

We’ve long been singing the praises of a well-thought out lighting scheme. The Three Balls Red design team won’t say we told you so but this season, statement lighting is a key trend with a fresh focus on exaggerated scale and form.

“Lighting has almost become an art form,” says Dowthwaite. “Wall sconces, lamps, pendants and sculptural lighting add points of interest and set the mood.

”Three Balls Red’s experienced design team are lighting experts and can take our clients through the many lighting collections in the Bundall showroom.

Inspiring colour combos

Spring and summer are the seasons for doing away with somber tones and heavier textures and adding some fun and frivolity to a space.

Three Balls Red’s Jasmine Dowthwaite says unique, quirky colour combinations will reign supreme this spring and summer.

“Expect to see pink hues with tans, dark blues and light blues and peach with terracottas,” says Dowthwaite.

"These fun colour combinations add joy to a space and pops of individuality.”

Maximalism

Forget ‘very demure’, this spring is the season to embrace your inner maximalist and get bold.
Artfully executed by the queen of modern design, Kelly Wearstler, the more-is-more aesthetic champions the eclectic mix of patterns, colours, texture and layering to create a playful and striking space.
Intentional and curated, maximalism - a subset of postmodernism - celebrates self expression and sparks joy.
The Three Balls Red design team say creating a maximalist home is about incorporating decorative elements such as patterned wallpapers, impactful coloured cushions, throws and textiles and pattern layering.
