TBR's Spring
Trends Forecast

There’s no doubt the global pandemic has changed the way in which we use and feel about our homes. Now, we are working, socialising, exercising and entertaining from our homes more than ever before, we are transforming our spaces into beautiful yet functional sanctuaries at every level.

After a long chilly winter and lockdowns, spring brings a sense of promise – and is the ideal season for an interior refresh. So, Three Balls Red’s interior design team have put together a list of key trends for a refresh this spring...

Meaningful and Considered Purchases

Here at Three Balls Red, we are thrilled that there is a shift towards artisanal and thoughtfully-designed pieces in design and interiors right now. Across the globe, people have become more aware of making meaningful purchases and placing more value on quality and craftsmanship rather than opting for mass produced and cookie cutter products in their homes. TBR brands such as We Ponder, Soktas, Fort Kingsley and Scandiluxe are all locally designed and crafted and offer premium, unique products that will stand the test of time - and add a true sense of character to the home.

Earth Tones

When the outside world is frenetic and unsettling, the home should exude a sense of calm and warmth this spring. The Three Balls Red team say there is still a strong emphasis on earth tones and natural materials and a rawer, more casual and grounded aesthetic. At TBR, we have long celebrated the beauty of natural stone materials with personality and character – and now it seems clients can’t get enough of it, too. “Stones with variance like your travertines are really having a moment,” says Three Balls Red’s creative director, Jasmine Dowthwaite. Those who are not renovating an entire home or room can incorporate some warmth with earth-toned cushions from Tim Neve’s latest collection Muse, an Ukuba bedhead to set the scene for the dreamiest night’s sleep or one of our ethically-sourced, Australian made rugs.

Japandi Style

A fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian style featuring a pared back minimalist look with a focus on natural textures like rattan, wood, stoneware and ceramics, Japandi remains a key look in interiors this spring. With a big emphasis on simplicity, functionality and natural materials, Japandi, or Japanese minimalism, creates a Zen and stress-free vibe in the home – and we can’t get enough of it.

Bright Accents

The weather is warming up so lighten the mood with a few pops of colour to add interest and a sense of fun to your space. Whether it is a beautiful feature tile, a bold concrete bath or basin by Concrete Nation or occasional chair, Three Balls Red’s interiors team can assist with bright accents to bring joy to any home or work environment. “Yellow, light blues/turquoises, and greens are being used to brighten up spaces and put a smile on your face during these challenging times,” US designer Timothy Corrigan told Vogue.

Killer Curves

Who doesn’t love killer curves in all the right places? From curved sofas and C-shaped sectionals to pendant lights, bedheads, rugs, consoles, mirrors and handles, curvy furnishings bring both modernity and soft femininity to a space. The TBR team design team are all coveting a curved console table by hot new Queensland brand Object X, who handcraft a small range of just seven sculptural pieces.
