With the mercury rising and those festive and fun summer months fast approaching, many of our clients, contractors and designers have swimming pools on their minds. Whilst you want your pool and pool landscape to be a beautiful oasis – and to make a splash design-wise - it can be overwhelming when it comes to the style and materials with so many options in the market. With summer almost upon us, The Three Balls Red team have shared the most popular products and latest pool trends so you can holiday at home - in style.

Calile Cool

Poolside at Australia’s hottest hotel, The Calile, is the place to be.Cool cabanas and Miami-style vibe aside, the spectacular 27m pool is lined with light green stone tiles which makes the 200,000 litres of water look all the more enticing.Three Balls Red design consultant, Rebecca Stanley, says many clients have been inspired by The Calile, opting for the Hammond green tile for a vintage-meets-Palm Springs look.

Natural Stones

Natural stones are still huge when it comes to pool coping, pool decking and poolside entertaining areas – even in very modern spaces. The Three Balls Red team say the clear favourite for natural stone for swimming pool design is travertine.
“Natural stone for pool coping has been increasingly popular this year,” says Stanley. “We have had a lot of requests for silver travertine or beige travertine for coping and exterior areas.”Better yet, natural stones are durable and are less likely to stain or fade in the sun.“These natural stones are robust and weather more gracefully than concrete pavers and the like,” says Three Balls Red’s Jasmine Dowthwaite.Three Balls Red offers an extensive selection of limestone, travertine and granite to make our clients’ pool inspiration dreams become reality.

All White!

Less can certainly be more when it comes to waterline tiles.
White ceramic tiles are a fresh and understated choice for a waterline especially when teamed with light-coloured water.
“A white tile waterline or a fully tiled pool using white 48x48s or 23x23 mosaic tiles has been in-demand,” says Stanley.“It helps give the pool water a really light blue and fresh feel, which is really appealing especially on a hot summer’s day!”

Stylish and Safe

Not all tiles are created equal when it comes to a slip rating. One trend that is both safe and beautiful is a new technology called dry glaze, which is available in several of Three Balls Red’s exterior tiles and has been designed to provide more grip when wet.
“The Kross tiles have a slip rating for around the pool with a matt finish,” says Stanley. “It is a flexible option and they look beautiful, too."For further pool trends or to chat to the expert Three Balls Red team about design ideas for a new swimming pool or upgrading an existing one, visit our Bundall showroom or send us an email.
